Bru

There is nothing that reminds me more of March in the Northeast than having a snow day and going to a bar and watching golf. Hopefully this snowstorm was our last because I cannot wait for warm weather, but since the snow storm did give me a day off I decided to take advantage of it and head to one of my favorite hunker down bars, Bru. Bru’s atmosphere is top notch, the service and TV’s make it a location you can stay all day and not feel the need to jump to another spot.

Bru

I drank the Staropramen Premium Lager the whole time I was at Bru. This is a Czech Pilsner that really is one of my go to beers when I know I am going to be drinking for a long time. I started the day with the fried pickles, these are fried in a beer batter with Westphalian ham and served on top of a mayo relish. If you like beer food, this is for you, greasy, tangy, salty, crunchy.

After a few more steins, I ordered the bratwurst and a side of the kase spatzel. Bru’s bratwurst is a classic version of the German wurst, it has a crisp skin with a juicy flavor. I loaded mine up with some spicy brown mustard and sauerkraut, which in my opinion is the best way to eat a bratwurst, but to each his own. The kase spatzel is glorious, it kind of reminds me of a German version of poutine. The spatzel, mushroom, onion, kale combination is delicious by itself, but once the muenster is added it becomes absolutely decadent, it is a dish you can’t stop eating and once you have to because there is no more, you think about ordering more. I finished the snow day with a nip of their cinnamon whiskey and headed home.

Bru is a great place to watch a game and hang out with friends. This was a 3.5 Tizzle experience.

Eat, Drink and Be Merry!!!
